PaperCut supports Microsoft Windows ARM64 for the majority of client components.
PaperCut uses the Windows x64 emulation feature, Prism, to help support the clients.
Read about printing with ARM64 on the PaperCut website.
Note ARM64 is mainly used in portable devices such as laptops, tablets, and Chromebooks, so we are prioritizing support for these devices.

The Windows ARM64 printer spooler requires architecture-specific printer drivers, so x64 printer drivers cannot be used. For x64 and ARM64 devices, use the PaperCut Global PostScript Printer driver version 100.3.0.0 (included in PaperCut NG/MF 24.0.3) and Print Provider version 111.0.16.8220. For more details and installation instructions, Share ARM64 Drivers from Windows Print Servers . GhostTrap
GhostTrap is an open-source product that PaperCut Software contributes significantly to. It converts PDLs such as PostScript and PCL into PDF. GhostTrap can be installed on ARM64 systems; however, native ARM64-compiled binaries offer performance benefits over x64-compiled binaries running through emulation. Feature still under testing PaperCut NG/MF Print Deploy - Print Deploy can clone many different printer drivers across multiple operating systems. Manufacturer support for ARM64 printer drivers is sparse at this time.
Note If you clone a print queue with an ARM64 printer driver, it will likely overwrite an x64 driver on the Application Server. If you encounter this issue, let us know and cite “PD-2122”.
PaperCut Hive and Pocket print queue deployment PaperCut Hive and Pocket provide the ability to deploy Windows ARM64-specific printer drivers to Windows ARM64 computers, while deploying Windows x64-specific printer drivers to Windows x64 computers.

Notes There is currently a limited number of manufacturer-specific ARM64 printer drivers. If your printers do not have manufacturer Windows ARM64 drivers, you can use the built-in PaperCut Global Print Driver, which is compatible with most printers. This is a great way to get your ARM64 users printing. If you require more advanced finishing options, and your manufacturer doesn’t offer an ARM64 printer driver, then you will have to log a request with them.
Most manufacturers are in the process of building Printer Support Apps (PSAs), which will replace manufacturer drivers eventually. PaperCut Software is working with manufacturers to ensure compatibility with PaperCut products in the future.
Print Deploy print queue deployment Print Deploy already supports ARM64 architecture by allowing you to deploy Mobility Print queues via Print Deploy. This uses PaperCut’s Global PostScript driver, which is compatible with x64 and ARM64 architecture.
PaperCut will provide an uplifted ARM64 solution for Print Deploy in 2026, which will ensure that sysadmins can deploy ARM64 and x64 drivers to the matching client architecture platform.

This includes the PaperCut Application primary server, secondary servers, site-server, and Direct Print Monitor installations. PaperCut TCP/IP Port: The Windows ARM64 printer spooler requires architecture-specific printer port drivers. We are investigating this further, but it’s low priority and support will be released later. This impacts hardware page count validation.
