Checking the Print Client or Edge Node version as a user There are different instructions for both Windows and macOS devices. Select the operating system that applies to your device, then follow the instructions.
Finding the Print Client version on Windows Follow these steps to find the Print Client version on Windows devices:
In File Explorer, go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\PaperCut Hive\. Check for folders named in the following format: vYYYY-MM-DD-BuildNumber, for example, v2025-04-29-0207. Have multiple folders? The most recent folder is the current version. (Optional) Open the .version file in this directory to confirm the version reference. Finding the Edge Node version on Windows Follow these steps to find the Edge Node version on Windows devices:
In File Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\PaperCut Hive\. Check for folders named in the following format: vYYYY-MM-DD-BuildNumber, for example, v2025-07-24-0601. Have multiple folders? The most recent folder is the current version. (Optional) Open the .version file in this directory to confirm the version reference. Tip The version shown in Programs and Features or Apps & Features reflects the version that was first installed. It might not be the current running version if automatic updates have occurred. Always check the folder or .version file for the most accurate information.

Finding the Print Client and Edge Node version on macOS Follow these steps to find the Print Client version on macOS:
Go to /Library/PaperCut Hive/. Check for versioned folders or open the .version file to find the current version. The most recent folder (or the contents of the .version file) indicates the current version running on the device.

Checking the Print Client or Edge Node version as an admin Finding an end-user’s Print Client version The PaperCut Hive admin console does not currently display the Print Client version for end-users. To find an end-user’s Print Client version, check the user’s device locally using the steps in the “Checking the Print Client or Edge Node version for users” section above.
Finding an end-user’s Edge Node version You can check the Edge Node version for any end-user device from the admin console.
Ensure that you have Diagnostic mode enabled (select your profile in the top right corner > Settings > Advanced > Diagnostic mode) In the PaperCut Hive admin console, go to the Edge Mesh tab. Select a hostname. Select the three-dots menu, then select Update now. A popup is displayed, showing the current version and any available updates. Updating an End-User’s Edge Node Version If an edge node is outdated, you can update it directly on that machine.
Enable Diagnostics Mode
In the PaperCut Pocket / Hive admin console, click your email address in the top-right corner. Select Settings. Under the Advanced tab, toggle Diagnostics mode on. Update the Edge Node
Go to Edge Mesh in the admin console.
Find the computer you want to update.
Click the three dots next to it and select Update now.
