Google Cloud IoT Core is a fully-managed service that allows customers to connect millions of globally dispersed devices quickly and securely. PaperCut’s Pocket & Hive uses Cloud IoT Core technology to enable users to print from their Windows, Chromebook, and Mac devices.
Google Cloud IoT Core is scheduled to retire on 16 August 2023. We’ll be updating PaperCut Pocket & Hive in July 2023 with a replacement for Cloud IoT Core so that users can continue to print. With this update, there are a couple of things you may need to do, depending on how your environment has been set up: Firewall update:
You may add these URLs to your allow list at any time, ideally before August 1st. We recommend you leave the existing URL mqtt.googleapis.com in your allow list until August 16, as we are migrating customers to the new URL endpoints in phases until then.

Troubleshooting There are 2 tell-tale signs that a Pocket/Hive Org may be blocking these endpoints that you can check. One in the job trace via the Admin UI, one via the edge node logs:
1. Job trace
When looking through a job trace, you will see a lot of notification errors. Similar to this:
“Failed to send notification to edge edgenode- err: failed to call coordinator gateway service. failed to call https://coordinator-gateway-dot-pc-pmitc.appspot.com/internal/coordinator-gateway/org ”
2. Edge node logs
Not only will you see a more detailed event similar to the one in the above screenshot, you may also see the following error from the “pc-notification-listener.exe”:
failed to connect the receiver [error information]
