Kyocera devices produce a detailed text log of activity. The log allows our developers to inspect the internal workings of the PaperCut application and pinpoint the cause of problems. Obtaining this log is required if requested by the PaperCut Support team.
To obtain the debug log from Kyocera devices from 14.2 and above: 1. Perform the action on the MFD that seems to be causing a problem. E.g. if there was a problem with PaperCut recording color copies, perform a color copy. Note the approximate time of the event. Then make sure to log out.
2. Access the PaperCut web interface of the copier at http://:8080/papercut/admin
3. Log in as “Admin” user. This the “Admin” user of the copier, not the PaperCut “admin” user.
4. Click “Device Log”.
5. Save the log to a file using your browser’s “Save As …” function or select everything and copy & paste it into a document or text file and attach it to an email to PaperCut Technical Support.
Include an explanation of the steps taken, such as “I logged in, copied two pages in color, then logged out”, along with any other information requested by the PaperCut Developers.
Legacy: To obtain the debug log from Kyocera-Mita devices from 14.1 or earlier: 1. Perform the action on the MFD that seems to be causing a problem. E.g. if there was a problem with PaperCut recording color copies, perform a color copy. Note the approximate time of the event. Then make sure to log out.
2. Put a USB thumb drive into the USB port of the Kyocera-Mita MFD.
3. Press “Admin Login” on the start/login screen.
4. Log in as “Admin” user.
5. Press “Store Log to USB”. Wait for a confirmation to appear in red text.
6. Remove the USB thumb drive.
7. Put the USB thumb drive into a PC and find the file “papercut.log”. Send this to support.
