This article explains how to resolve an issue where printing multiple copies with stapling via a Find-Me queue staples all copies together instead of separately.
If you set up Find-Me printing with virtual queues using HP PCL drivers (such as HP Universal Printing PCL 6), stapling might not work correctly. All copies are stapled together as one batch instead of each copy being stapled separately. Direct print queues using the same driver work as expected.
Cause of the issue The cause of the issue relates to a printer driver setting known as Mopier Mode.
When a virtual (Find-Me) queue is configured with a nul port, the driver cannot communicate with the physical printer to retrieve the printer’s default settings. As a result, Mopier Mode is disabled on the virtual queue, even if it is enabled on the direct print queue. The mismatch in driver settings between the virtual queue and the direct queue causes finishing instructions, such as stapling, to be interpreted incorrectly. The incorrect interpretation results in all copies being stapled together.
Manually enable Mopier Mode To resolve the stapling issue, manually enable Mopier Mode on the virtual queue:
Open the Start Menu and select Devices and Printers. Right-click the virtual (Find-Me) print queue and select Printer Properties. The Printer Properties dialog is displayed. In the Device Settings tab, scroll to Mopier Mode. Select Enabled. Save the changes. Test the queue by printing multiple copies with stapling. Enabling Mopier Mode ensures the virtual queue’s driver settings match the settings of the direct print queue. The matched settings allow stapling to function correctly per copy.
Note After making the configuration change, verify that PaperCut accurately records the intended page and copy count in the job log.
