For the Xerox embedded application to function correctly in both PaperCut MF and PaperCut Hive, the login screen displayed should be the Xerox native ‘convenience’ page. If the device has been setup to show the PaperCut login screen (used by most other OEMs) then this will cause instability in the application.
Note While this knowledge article may only reference one product at times (PaperCut MF/ PaperCut Hive), the instructions will be relevant for both products
What should the login screen look like? If the device has been setup correctly, the device will show the Xerox native login screen. Please note this screenshot is for PaperCut Hive, but will display very similarly in PaperCut MF.
How do I know if my device is setup incorrectly? If your device is not showing the Xerox native login screen, then the device is misconfigured and the app may behave inconsistently and some features may not function correctly. The following screenshot is of the PaperCut Hive login screen, which should never be present on a Xerox device.
Possible symptoms If the Xerox has been incorrectly setup to show the PaperCut login screen, there are many possible symptoms that can increase in severity based on other settings set incorrectly. This may include, but is not limited to:
Users are unable to authenticate to the device properly, with Card swipe authentication failing to work. Integrated scanning fails to function correctly. Native jobs may not be tracked as expected. Difficulty logging out / inconsistent log out experience. How to resolve Auto To resolve this issue, a re-installation of the embedded application from the PaperCut MF or PaperCut Hive admin interface should revert the settings to the correct defaults.
Manual If you prefer to change the settings manually, or the re-installation failed to resolve the issue, the setting can be corrected by following these instructions:
Note These instructions are available in both the PaperCut MF and PaperCut Hive embedded manuals available from your PaperCut Authorised Partner.
Please note that these instructions are for Altalink Xerox devices, and the path to the setting may be different for other models. Please reach out to your Xerox Partner for assistance if you are unable to locate the setting.
Navigate to Properties > Login/ Permissions / Accounting > User Permissions > Configuration Settings > User Permission Roles > Edit…
Select Guest Access (Non-Logged-In Users) > Permission Role > Non-Logged-In User > Edit…
Select the Apps & Tools option.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Find PaperCut Hive (or PaperCut MF) and change the option to Not allowed & Hidden.
